“If the authorities in BiH are sufficiently responsible and devoted to the European path, I believe that we can catch up with Serbia and Montenegro, which are at the top of this locomotive. Our goal should be the year of 2025,” said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.
Togerther with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic, Minister Sarovic took part at the Third Investment Conference on the Western Balkans, which was organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
“This is the third and the most successful conference for us. I believe that we achieved the most in comparison to all the other Western Balkan countries because we were the only one to sign two documents. One of them refers to financing of Corridor 5C and the other on the formation of a special body for the improvement of investment climate in BiH on the expense of EBRD,” stated Minister Sarovic.
“If the amount of 750 million EUR is invested in BiH only through the EBRD, that is a magnet. It is a good news for other investors, and there were a few hundreds of them in London. I believe that we are now in the second place on the amount of EBRD investments in South East Europe as a country,” said Sarovic.
He also added that it is still possible for BiH to enter the EU in the year of 2025.
“Obligations are defined through bilateral conversations with the countries that applied when BiH expressed its desire to join the WTO. It is very important for us to be a member of such an eminent organization, which is one of the most important ones in the world. The credibility of a country that is a member is very important for investors. Being a member of the WTO means that you are following the rules of the WTO in trade and it means that you are a safe and reliable partner for investors. Our businessmen will be able to experience the benefits and markets of other WTO members under the most favorable conditions,” noted Minister Sarovic, and added that BiH still needs to negotiate with Russia in order to become a member of the WTO.
