Miralem Pjanic officially signed for Sharjah FC

A footballer from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Miralem Pjanic (32) has officially signed a contract with the Sharjah FC team from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As previously announced by the Spanish media, Pjanic accepted the offer from the UAE and signed a two-year contract worth around three million euros per season, with the possibility of extending the cooperation for an additional year.

BiH football player renounced the remaining income from the contract that tied him to Barcelona until 2024, and in return the Catalans let him go to the UAE for free.

Sharjah FC is the most successful club from the UAE with six titles, eight Cups and two Super Cups. Their current team consists mainly of local players and a few Brazilians, and among the foreigners, the most famous one is the former Spanish national team player and also former Barcelona player Paco Alcacer.

Pjanic started his career with Metz, then played in Lyon, and after three years in France in 2011, he moved to Roma. He stayed with Roma for five seasons, and in the summer of 2016 he signed for Juventus.

At the end of the summer of 2020, he moved to Barcelona and since then his steep decline began. He did not get a real chance at the Nou Camp, and a year later he was ”borrowed” to Besiktas. However, he did not excel there either, after which he returned to Barcelona at the beginning of this season.

Although Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said during the preparatory period that Pjanic convinced him of his qualities and that he would remain in the team, it was clear from the start that he was outnumbered.

Pjanic is one of the three players who did not get a single minute in Barcelona’s official games so far, after which he decided to change the environment, Klix.ba writes.
