Moore: Successful Revision of Judgment against Serbia is Justice for Victims

mooreHead of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Ambassador Jonathan Moore, believes that, if the conditions for a successful revision of the judgment in the lawsuit of BiH against Serbia are fulfilled, it will contribute to justice for the victims, the survivors and for the country.

Bosniak member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic announced that next week will be submitted the judgment for the lawsuit of BiH against Serbia for genocide on revision before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

“Our advice is that, if you are not convinced that the revision will be successful, it is important to professionally and thoroughly think about that possibility,” said Moore on Saturday in Mostar, emphasizing that there are still many open questions such as who has the authority and the legitimacy of such a decision.

“If the conditions for a successful revision are completed and if they will go with the revision on the 26th of February, as announced, I hope that eventually there will be more justice, less sadness, and frustration for the victims, and for survivors and for the country. Time will tell whether this will be the end result of the revision,” said Moore.

When asked to assess the political situation in BiH and where the debate about federalism is going, Moore said that BiH under the Dayton is a state of two entities and the Brcko District and the fact that it cannot exist in any other form without consensus.

“It is difficult to define federalization in the case of BiH, but in the end, nothing is possible without consensus, which, unfortunately, does not exist, and the example of it is the city of Mostar,” he said.

Mostar is without elections for more than eight years, which, according to him, is very sad and there is no justification for that situation.

“It is clear to everyone that the main political parties HDZ and SDA must find concrete proposals and change this situation as soon as possible,” said Moore.
