High Representative Schmidt could intervene by the End of the Week?

It was found out that the High Representative Christian Schmidt should impose a new decision by the end of the week, which will refer to the formation of the government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH).

Whether Schmidt will change the FBiH Constitution or the electoral law is not clear for now. What is realistic is that he could act without changing the Constitution, that is, he could only issue some kind of instruction for the parliamentary majority that will enable the government to be formed even without the consent of both entity vice-presidents.

However, in order for Schmidt to intervene at all, it is necessary for the previously agreed parliamentary majority of the Eight – HDZ to convince him that they have the majority. In this context, it should be pointed out that the leaders of the Eight still had certain meetings (yesterday), and as it was found out, they also met with some ambassadors.

The key issue before them is proving that the group of parties gathered in parties of ”Eight” and HDZ have a parliamentary majority that will be able to implement some new decision that Schmidt imposes and that will enable the formation of government and the bypassing of SDA’s Refik Lendo, whose signature is now imminent.

One of the key questions is also whether Schmidt’s decision will be temporary or permanent. Party for BiH (Stranka za BiH – SBiH) and People’s European Union of BiH (NES) openly did not want a temporary measure from the beginning, and some other parties also said that they were not in favor of it. On the other hand, HDZ does not want a permanent solution, so Schmidt’s skill will be sought in the space between the wishes of those two groups.

Without SBiH and NES, such a government will not be possible, Klix.ba reports.
