Mostar Marks 90th Anniversary of Death of Aleksa Šantić

Aleksa_SanticOn occasion of the 90th anniversary since the death of the poet Aleksa Šantić, the Serbian educational and Cultural Society ‘Prosvjeta’-City Committee of Mostar will start with the implementation of a project on 1 February called ‘’Prosvjetina škola srpskog jezika, istorije i kulture’ in Mostar.

The opening program will start at 9:30 and will be held in the atrium of the Episcopal Palace in Mostar.

On Sunday, 2 February, on the anniversary of his death, after the Holy Liturgy in the Temple of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-old church, there will be a commemoration at 10:00, followed by a visit to his grave, announced SPKD ‘Prosvjeta’.

Aleksa Šantić (27 May 1868-2 February 1924) was a B&H poet and one of the most famous representatives of B&H poetry. He spent most of his life in his native Mostar.
