Bosnia and Herzegovina skier, twenty-four years old Elvedina Muzaferija achieved a career high today in the super-G race of the World Cup, which was held in the famous ski resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.
From starting position 46, Muzaferia took 14th place with a great ride and a time of 1:22.58, thus achieving the best placement in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s skiing. The excellent result brought her 18 new points for the overall standings in the World Cup. On the same track, Muzaferia also won six points in the downhill race on Saturday.
“Today I achieved the result of my career and the result of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am happy and proud. I hope that the results will be this good until the end of the season. Today was a very strange day, like yesterday and the day before yesterday, there were many falls and injuries and it was not easy to start. However, I knew that I could, that I just needed to ski clean, do my best and that the result would come. Thank you all for your support,” Muzaferija said and invited all Bosnians and Herzegovinans to cheer for her next weekend as well, when downhill and super-G races are scheduled in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
In February of last year, Muzaferija brought the first historical medal to Bosnia and Herzegovina when she won silver in the downhill race of the European Cup.
The winner of today’s super-G competition in Italy is the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami with a time of 1:20.75, after which Muzaferia was 1.83 seconds behind. Second place went to Stephanie Venier from Austria, while Romane Miradoli from France took third place, Fena news agency writes.
