US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his support for the US plan to cease fire in the Gaza Strip. He also expressed positive expectations for approval from the other side, the Hamas movement.

“I met with Prime Minister Netanyahu last night and he confirmed his commitment to this proposal,” Blinken said.

On Monday, the UN Security Council (UNSC) adopted a corresponding resolution submitted by the United States of America, with which Hamas also agrees. Blinken called it a promising sign and said progress in efforts to reach a solution in the Gaza Strip depended on this movement.

According to Blinken, the cease-fire plan presented by US President Joe Biden on May 31 has the support of the US and several world leaders.

The US foreign minister is trying to drum up support for a ceasefire plan during a trip to the Middle East.

In addition to the ceasefire, his text also includes the release of all hostages and a significant and sustainable increase in humanitarian aid to this enclave. Blinken stressed that this proposal will lead to a calming of the situation around Israel’s northern borders and better integration of the countries of the Middle East.

On Tuesday, Blinken spoke with Israeli President Yitzchak Herzog and opposition leader Yair Lapid.

Later, he should also meet with Benny Gance, who announced his departure from the wartime government on Sunday. On Wednesday, the American minister will visit Qatar, Klix.ba writes.
