Energoinvest, d.d. – Sarajevo yesterday received an official written notice from TANESCO – (Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited) about the selection for the best bidder and the contract award for the construction of substations worth more than 53 million USD. Energoinvest will do this work as a carrier and consortium leader in co-operation with the Indian company EMC, responsible for part of construction work.
The project was assigned to Energoinvest in tough international competition based on the participaton in an international tender who involved more than 20 renowned world companies.
This is the second project which, besides 39 million USD conctruction project of 400 kV transmission network, Energoinvest received in the previous year from TANESCO, so in the following period, only in Tanzania, Energoinvest will do a 92 million USD work . What is even greater is that these projects are from the core business of Energoinvest – construction of the transmission networks and substations.
The job is funded by the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the investor is TANESCO.
The project is related to the construction of a new 400/220/33 kV Arusha substation, which will be done on a turnkey system, which implies the design, procurement, delivery and construction of a substation. The project also includes the expansion of the existing 220 kV Singida substation. The substation of Singida was built by Energoinvest in 1986 and it is still in an excellent condition.
This work is done in the Kilimanjaro area and is part of a major African interconnection project, i.e. networking between Tanzania and Kenya. The contract will be implemented after the exchange of signed contract documents, which is expected to happen in the next few weeks.
