New Details in the Case of the Murder of Two Sarajevo Policemen

The main trial in the “Sava Marinkovic et al.” case, which is related to the murder of Sarajevo police officers in 2018, continued yesterday in the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo. Two witnesses of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Prosecutor’s Office testified before the court yesterday.

Namely, the witness M.M. was at the window of his apartment right before those shots because, as he said, he could not sleep. Then he noticed a white Volkswagen Golf with its hood up.

“I heard a shot, and then I saw a flash, it came from the right side of a white car with its hood up. Then other shots were heard. I saw a police car and I thought it was some kind of police drill. The police car was moving along Geteova Street, towards the parking lot. I saw a figure standing next to the white car. Two shots were fired from a black car. The man by the white car got into a black car, he was tall, and he had a cap, turned upside down. He was dressed in black, just like our special forces, so I thought it was a police action,” the witness testified.

His testimony was objected to and questioned by the defense of the second defendant, Aleksandar Macan, lawyer Dusko Tomic, as well as Macan himself. Namely, Tomic said that the statement given by the witness M.M. to the CS Prosecutor’s Office and the police are not the same and have “no relation to each other”.

Moreover, he also stated that the rulings of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo regarding the determination and extension of custody of his client are largely based on the testimony of the witness M.M.

The second witness who testified yesterday, N.M., also lives in the immediate vicinity of the place where the policemen were killed, namely Geteova Street in the Alipasino Polje. He said that he was woken up by gunshots and that he also heard two gunshots.

Namely, the witness S.S., who is the owner of the white Golf 4 that was the target of theft that fateful night, has already been called to testify twice, but both times he did not respond to the summons. The judge also proposed a warrant for his arrest.

Judge Igor Todorovic scheduled the next hearing for April 24th, when six witnesses are scheduled to testify. It should be recalled that in this case, the defendants are Sava Marinkovic, Aleksandar Macan, and Marko Trifkovic, who are charged with the crimes of “Murder” and “Aggravated Theft”, Klix.ba reports.
