‘Restoration in Progress’ is the name of a new exhibition of the BIH Historical Museum that visitors could see every day from 9:00-19:00. The exhibition represents the beginning of a restoration project of works of art from the Historical Museum.
The project started with the initiative of a restorer, Sanjin Lugić, who decided to offer his contribution to saving the treasures of the art collection of the BIH Historical Museum, to make a project of documentation and to assess the necessary funds for its restoration.
“Given the unresolved status and the unstable financial situation, the museum is not able to finance the restoration of the artworks, but every visitor is able to choose one of the 104 paintings and cover the cost of its restoration. As a sign of gratitude, the BIH Historical Museum will write the name of the donor under every painting, and would say that the painting was saved by the donor, and the donor would receive a certificate of appreciation from the BIH Historical Museum. For the restoration of one painting, 400,00 KM is necessary’’, said Svjetlana Hadžirović, Head of the Art Collection of the BIH Historical Museum.
The first donor was Fletcher Burton, Head of the OSCE Mission to BIH. He chose the painting Lepe Radić, which was painted by Nada Novaković in 1951.
