cigarettesNew cigarette prices will be in effect in Bosnia and Herzegovina from today.

The Decision on establishing the specific and the minimum excise duty on cigarettes and the amount of excise tax on smoking tobacco for 2015 defines that from 1st January 2015 the following excise tax on cigarettes will be paid: proportional excise duty at the rate of 42 percent of the retail price of cigarettes, and special excise tax in the amount of 52.50 BAM for 1,000 pieces, or 1.05 BAM on a pack of 20 pieces, announced today the ITA BiH.

If the total excise on cigarettes (proportional + special), which is calculated according to the above rates, is lower than the minimum excise duty, then a minimum excise tax in the amount of 2.00 BAM per pack of cigarettes for a pack of 20 pieces is paid.

The excise tax on smoking tobacco in 2015 shall be determined in a manner that it will amount to 80 percent of the minimum excise duty on cigarettes in 2015, which is 80 BAM per kilogram.

The Decision on new prices is a continuation of harmonization of the excise policy in BiH with the policy of excise taxes on cigarettes in the European Union.
