So far, no damage has been reported in Bileća after the strong earthquake that was felt in Herzegovina, but today there will be no classes in the two primary and secondary schools, nor will the kindergarten be open, it was said for Srna news agency in the Civil Protection.

Classes will not be held today as recommended by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republika Srpska.

Civil Protection added that the school buildings have been inspected since this morning and that there is no damage to them.

“So far, no one has come forward to report the damage, and the Civil Protection headquarters is in ambush,” the municipal Civil Protection stated.

Montenegro was hit by an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale at 4:06 a.m. this morning. The earthquake was also felt in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the epicenter was 23 kilometers northeast of Bileća.

After the first strong earthquake, a series of earthquakes of lower intensity followed, which woke up and disturbed the inhabitants of Herzegovina.

Seismologist Srđan Ceković from the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro said this morning that the earthquake was at a depth of 14 kilometers and could have caused material damage, but that it was good that the epicenter was in an uninhabited area.

“It was felt most strongly around Bileća with an intensity of six degrees,” Ceković pointed out and added that after the main shock, another 30 earthquakes followed.

He stated that the Institute had a lot of calls from upset citizens.

The earthquake was felt throughout Montenegro, but also in the states of the region.
