The construction of the bridge over the Sava River, one of the most significant projects jointly implemented by the Republika Srpska Entity (RS), Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, began on Friday in the town of Catrnja near Gradiska.

Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic says this is a big day for RS, as they open the door to the European Union with the construction of the bridge.

“This bridge, which will connect the two countries, is more than that. It will enable faster development of RS and BiH, and all citizens will get this bridge,” Viskovic said.

He added that the bridge would particularly benefit the local communities in its vicinity.

This is a bridge that will soon connect the already constructed Gradiska-Banjaluka highway with the network of European highways.

In mid-July, representatives of “Croatian Roads” in Zagreb signed a contract with a consortium consisting of “Integral Engineering”, “Duro Dakovic” and “Zagreb-Montaza”, which offered a price of 19.5 million euros excluding VAT and construction of the bridge pledged to build it in 30 months.

The length of the bridge is 462.2 m, width 22.6 meters and the weight of the load-bearing steel structure is 4.650 tons. The bridge will have four pavement lanes, two in each direction.
