Peace Implementation Council to meet today in Sarajevo?

ivancovAmbassador of Russia to BiH Peter Ivancov confirmed that the meeting of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) will be held today in Sarajevo.

This session was requested by the Russian ambassador because of the new situation regarding the submission of the application for revision of the judgment of the International Court of Justice brought by BiH against Serbia.

The session will start at 13:00 o’clock, said the ambassador Ivancov to representatives of the media.

BiH filed a lawsuit against the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) in 1993 to the International Court of Justice, the highest judicial instance in the system of the United Nations (UN).

The verdict was pronounced on the 26th of February 2007 regarding the procedure related to the violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which was adopted on the 9th of December 1948 by the General Assembly of UN.

The ICJ found that the genocide was committed in Srebrenica, but not in the other BH municipalities, and thus excluded the responsibility of Serbia for genocide, and they only established failures in its prevention and punishment.
