Police found 17 People suspected of Criminal Offenses at the Migrant Camp

Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton (MIA of SC) Police Directorate, with the assistance of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, found 17 persons in the migrant camp in Blazuj for whom there was information that they were perpetrators of crimes in BiH and surrounding countries, and they were handed over under the jurisdiction of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH.

On January 23rd, 2021, in the period from 05.30 a.m. to 09.00 a.m., police officers of the Police Directorate of the MIA of SC, with the assistance of the Service for Foreigners’ of BiH, implemented measures and actions within their competence during the enforcement of the operational action codenamed “BLAZUJ” 21. 340 police officers of the Police Directorate of the MIA of SC and 13 officials of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH from Field Office Sarajevo participated in this action.

The planned activities were carried out according to the search warrant issued by the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of SC, under the operational plan of the Criminal Police Sector in the temporary reception center “Blazuj” located at Kamenolom Street 20, Ilidza Municipality. Certain facilities in the camp and persons of security interest were searched.

The action was attended by 340 police officers of the Police Directorate of the MIA of the SC and 13 officials of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH from Field Office Sarajevo.

During the search of the facility used by migrants in the mentioned camp “Blazuj”, about 3.000 (three thousand) persons – migrants were found, who were examined and searched in accordance with the search warrant and determined police power, where persons of security interest were searched, as well as the items that may be related to the performance of criminal offenses.

On that occasion, persons of security interest were transferred to the Immigration Center of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, after which they will be criminally processed and deported to their countries of origin.

During the implementation of the above-mentioned activities, thrown items suitable for inflicting bodily injuries (wooden and metal bars, screwdrivers, scissors, scalpels, kitchen knives, etc.) were found near the facilities that were searched, and which are related to the recent attack of the police officers.
