Presentation of the Strategy to combat Human Trafficking

Ministry of Security of BiH, presented today in Sarajevo the results of three strategic projects whose implementation is supported by the UK government.

These are the projects that have resulted in the development of new strategies to combat human trafficking in BiH (2013-2015) and the  Action Plan (2013-2015) to deal with this type of crime. Implementation of these projects involves the establishment of a database that contains all the agreements and international instruments binding on the cooperation of police authorities, as well as a new system for monitoring the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Security.

The Minister of Security claims that they have achieved significant results which contribute to the strengthening of the Ministry of Security.

 “The end of result of all projects will be on time and will be completely fulfilled the  numerous international obligations of  BiH and the strengthening of its credibility in the construction of this part of Europe as an area of ​​stability and security”, said Radončić during the presentation, which was organized at the BiH Institution Building.

 BiH has achieved obvious results in the sector of fight against organized crime and human trafficking.

 “It is our pleasure to see that the successful implementation of similar projects encourage building of more stable environment”, said British Ambassador Nigel Casey.

Ambassador Casey thanked the State Minister of Security, and all the people who participated in this project, noting that the effects are multiple and very positive.

Preparation of strategy and action plan were preceded by a comprehensive, independent analysis of the state in the fight against human trafficking, and by the success of the police and other agencies responsible for the fight against this form of organized crime.

“The strategy has been prepared on the realistic basis, and based on respect for human rights. It contains five primary objectives and 33 strategic measures that the competent institutions, 69 of them, have to implement in order to reduce the number of these cases”, stated the Deputy Minister of Security, Samir Rizvo.

He said that strategy was done in an innovative way, and for its development was consulted with a number of experts and with relevant components of the civil society.

He stressed that the strategy has aroused great interest of the donor and that there are already indications for obtaining donor funds for its implementation.
