At the Popovo Osoje site, near Vozuća and Zavidovići, a process of exhumation and search for mortal remains of the missing persons from the past war was carried out.

At the exhumation site, fragments of the remains of one person were found, which were taken and will be forwarded for further forensic processing and identification by way of the DNA analysis.

The exhumation was led by an Investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and attended by a forensic pathologist, officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency-SIPA and employees of the Missing Persons’ Institute (BiH MPI) and ICMP in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Police officers of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Ministry of the Interior were securing the exhumation site.

This exhumation process was carried out in a remote and inaccessible terrain.

Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with officers from partner institutions and agencies, participate in the processes of exhumations and search for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
