House of Peoples called members of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH for urgent changes to the Election Law of BiH, which would enable holding of elections for the city council and the Mayor of Mostar, as part of regular local elections in the country in 2016.

House of Peoples is requesting by the resolution that representatives of parliamentary parties take responsibility for making the best and most favorable solution in the interest of the local community.

“We emphasize the need to solve the status of the city of Mostar by taking into account the principles of local self-government, acting in the public interest and taking into account the demands and proposals which are in accordance with the highest international standards of human rights, civil liberties and non-discrimination”, as stated.

Resolution was proposed to House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH by delegate Pedja Kojovic.

At his suggestion, in the preamble, among others, was emphasized that the House of Peoples brings this resolution while expressing a concern that the citizens of Mostar have not voted on their representatives at the local level since 2008.
