In Republika Srpska, in the future, smoking will be prohibited in closed public places. On the cigarette boxes, besides the note about smoking ban, there will also be photographs of the effects of smoking hazards, and the use of menthol in cigarettes is no longer allowed.

These are novelties considered by the new draft of Law on the protection of the health of the population from tobacco products and other smoking products, which was adopted by the RS Government today.

Alen Seranic, from the sector of International Cooperation and European Integrations at the RS Ministry of Health today explained that in the future in the RS will not be allowed to smoke in restaurants, cafes and other catering facilities, nor any other closed public place, regardless whether they have separate smoking rooms or not. Smoking will be allowed only in the garden.
”Six ministries were working on drafting this law, “ said Seranic.

He also emphasized that a new law prohibits the sale of tobacco and tobacco products in all educational, health and sports facilities.

”There have been written warnings on cigarette boxes so far, and now there will also be pictorial warnings, which is the practice in the European Union countries, “ said Seranic.

He also added that the violation of the new legal provisions will be punished for both legal and natural persons, but did not specify what kind of punishment will be used and in which amount.
