Rudež: Protection of the Natural Resources is an Imperative

jffThe environmental challenges are today’s biggest challenges of the world. The protection of natural resources has become an imperative and everything happening on the planet concerning our environment belongs to the context of international duties, conventions and protocol – said recently the deputy of the Minister of environment and tourism of B&H, Mladen Rudež.

Rudež participated at the round table about “Local and global environmental challenges 2014” held in Sarajevo within the 8th International Jahorina Film Festival.

He added that B&H is involved in those processes with an integral legal frame according to the international conventions about the protection of the environment.

“B&H acceded to many conventions and those are facts to be respected. I believe B&H has made a great progress in this sector through the Euro-Atlantic integrations. Still, the hardest part of the job is yet to come – implementation of the local legislation and international obligations.” – said Raguž.

According to the statements of the director of the Hydrotechnics Institute in Sarajevo, Tarik Kupusović, the “Local and global environmental challenges 2014” subject is of great importance especially in the context of the floods in B&H and in the region.

“All of that showed us the connection between things like cutting the local forests, local floods, landslides and global challenges like for example climatic changes and the world economic and financial crisis which have serious consequences on every habitant of the planet.” – said Kupusović and added:

“The world is oriented towards renewable energy sources and the efficient use of energy when it comes to production and consummation. We should recognize those trends and think about our future in that context.”

Kupusović also pointed out that there’s a great need to stimulate the so-called green economy as an integral part of the sustainable development policy which is focused on the connection between economy and life environment. The development policy should take into consideration the most important systems like the ozone, climate, biodiversity, water resources and respect and preserve the economic and social sustainability.
