Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić said that Serbia will continue joint projects with China and cooperation in combating transnational crime.

Dačić stated this at the Global Forum on Public Security Cooperation in Lianjungang and added that Serbia is working to improve international cooperation and create a safe environment for citizens and the economy.

“Serbia and China are bound by mutual trust in matters of the highest strategic interest for both countries,” said Dacic, adding that China’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity is significant and that Belgrade supports the global security initiative proposed by Beijing.

“We are firmly committed to providing a full contribution to stability in the region and in the world. We want to be part of the solution and take responsibility in solidarity,” said Dačić.

The strengthening of relations between Serbia and China followed the coming to power of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), and Serbia and China signed about thirty bilateral agreements and memoranda in May, and Chinese President Xi Jinping said that these documents testify to “high-quality cooperation within the initiative Belt and Road”.

The most important of them is the China-Serbia Free Trade Agreement, and in the next five to ten years, almost 95 percent of products from Serbia will be able to be exported to China without any tariffs or duties.
