policijars1-srebrenica-696x456Situation in Srebrenica is under control and peaceful, confirmed the Head of Operational Staff for the security of local elections in BiH Relja Kovač.

“Based on information we obtained from the Public Security Center Bijeljina, which also covers the territory of Srebrenica, one team of Support Unit has been sent to Srebrenica. The reason is of preventive character, due to the media campaign and statements of politicians and their comments, where it was mentioned that atmosphere in Srebrenica is complicated,” Kovač said.

Kovač mentioned that one of the reasons for the referral of one smaller team of the Support Unit of the Public Security Center Bijeljina to Srebrenica are threats directed at one of the candidates for the mayor of this town.

Staff of security action “Elections 2016” was formed by the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH, at the request by the Central Election Commission of BIH and the Ministry of Security of BiH.
