Small Hydroelectric Power Plants will not be built on the Buna Canals?

Since 2014, ecological associations from Mostar have been fighting for the preservation of the River Buna canals as a protected natural monument. They were supported by numerous associations from the country and the region, world activists, and even some politicians. They brought their struggle to an end.

After almost nine years of struggle, it seems that environmental associations will achieve their goal.

As things stand now, there will be no construction of two small hydroelectric plants at this location, even though originally the issuance of permits and concessions for the construction of small hydroelectric plants should not have occurred since the Buna canals are a protected natural monument.

Many Mostar councilors joined the residents of Buna and activists in the multi-year struggle, and at the end of last year, they deleted the Buna canals from the Spatial Plan.

All that remains is for the Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) to cancel the concession contract, Klix.ba reports.
