Snoop Dogg is making a whopping $500,000 a day promoting the 2024 Olympics, according to an NBC executive.
As a reporter for NBC, Snoop’s presence became a draw for viewers, bringing his unique spirit to the coverage.
He’s already carried the Olympic torch, captivated audiences as a prime-time NBC reporter, swam with Michael Phelps, attended an American women’s soccer game with Megan Rapinoe, and danced with Simone Biles. The rapper tried his hand at various sports and disciplines, and the Internet was flooded with his videos from Paris.
In his role as a reporter for NBC, Snoop also conducted several interviews with Olympians, including basketball player A’ja Wilson, gymnast Sunisa Lee, skateboarder Jagger Eaton, and beach volleyball players Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng.
Snoop’s presence in Paris is part of NBC’s bet to boost ratings by injecting pop culture. So far, the American broadcaster’s strategy has worked, with NBC claiming 35.4 million viewers in midweek – more than double the same day during the Tokyo Olympics.
The news of Snoop Dogg’s significant earnings has stirred reactions, especially considering the financial struggles many Olympic athletes face. Despite the controversy, his unique and engaging contributions have been well-received, adding a distinct flair to NBC’s coverage of the Olympics
