kuca_za_beskucnikeThe Executive Director of the Association ‘Women from the Una’ Aida Behrem and the municipal mayor Emdžad Galijašević officially opened the ‘social house for the homeless’ in a Bihać neighborhood. The project is implemented by this Association, in cooperation with municipality Bihać and the municipal center for social work, and is financially supported by the German organization Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB) as part of the partner support ‘Women from the Una’.

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable people, and to strengthen the awareness of the local community on the needs to lend support to this group of people and to protect their rights. ‘’For the renovation of the house, 15.000 Bam has been ensured, and accommodation will be available for three people, who do not have a roof over their head in the area of municipality Bihać’’, said Director Behrem.

Mayor Galijašević said that this is a good example of cooperation of the municipality and the nonprofit sector, adding that they will always help projects whose goal is to help socially vulnerable people.

‘’This is especially true for those who do not have a roof over their heads and municipality Bihać will find a solution in order to not have them on the streets. We cannot do this on our own, but we will call on more levels of government to become included in solving this problem and to show more solidarity’’, said Galijašević.
