Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the measures that first hit the tourism industry, Europe Ltd. Sarajevo, which includes the Europe and Holiday hotels, had to layoff all workers, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

As stated in the decision delivered to workers on Wednesday due to the state of emergency in the country and the ban on work in this activity, hotel workers were sent to the waiting on March 15, but this resulted in a threat to the liquidity of Europa d.o.o.

“In order to preserve the survival of our company, we are forced to send workers who are employed in our company part-time, temporarily, or until the situation in our country stabilizes, to the employment bureau from April 1, 2020,”  the decision states.

The notice states that the Employment Service has a large budget created for these emergencies and that workers will be able to earn monthly benefits until the situation returns to normal. Workers will be called upon to return to their jobs when the state of emergency is lifted.
