According to optimistic data of the Motorways of FBiH, in just over three years we should be able to use two thirds of the motorway A1, while the traffic on the existing sections already exceeds the number of one million vehicles per month during the summer.
Regarding new and usable kilometers of highway in FBiH until 2018, the Public Enterprise Motorways of FBiH claim that around 40 kilometers should be in function, in the north within the section Svilaj-Odžak (10.4 kilometers), in the region of Zenica 12 kilometers and 18 kilometers in the south.
According to the plans, a construction cycle of another 84 kilometers of motorway A1 is to begin this year. In the next four years, the plan is to complete two thirds of the motorway, including the sections in the most difficult parts of BiH.
All works depend on financial construction. Main project at the section Tarčin-Konjic was completed and the expropriation is in progress. This section is very expensive and costs 450 million EUR without VAT, which is why it is not currently a priority.
According to data from this enterprise, 900 million EUR will be invested in new sections of the motorway A1. Construction of sections is largely financed by international credit means, while expropriation and project designing are financed from enterprise’s own resources.
Total number of vehicles on the motorway A1 in 2015 was 8.509.683. Moreover, a comparison between the first half of last year and the first half of this year shows growth in charging fees by 20 percent. According to data from the enterprise, a record number of vehicles was registered on the motorway A1 in July this year – over one million vehicles!
Currently in progress are activities regarding the implementation of procedure of the selection of a private partner for the construction of the speed road Lašva-Nević Polje.
