By adopting in the Council of Ministers the Strategy for the Fight against Organized Crime and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy in the Field of Migration and Asylum for the Period from 2021 to 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken new important steps for the realization of 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, Srna was told from the Directorate for European Integration (DEI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to the above, the Rulebook on the work of the joint contact point for cooperation with Europol was signed, work continued on the development of the BiH Integration Program into the EU, and amendments to the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), which is also in connection with the realization of the priorities of the European Commission.

Developments in the plan to fulfill the priority tasks set before Bosnia and Herzegovina by the European Commission, DEI reminds, were also recorded last year, and the most important activities are the holding of general elections, which is the number one priority, and the adoption of amendments to the Law on Public procurements, adoption of several strategies important for better management of public finances, improvement of human rights protection and fight against terrorism.

Earlier, as stated, amendments to the electoral legislation related to the city of Mostar were adopted, a decision was made to abolish the provisions on the death penalty in the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, the Rules of Procedure of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association were adopted, as well as the Strategy for working on war cases crimes, and the Strategic Framework and Action Plan for the reform of public administration were adopted.

DEI points out that it is the European Commission that assesses whether and when a certain priority has been implemented to a sufficient extent.

The Commission monitors the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European integration on an annual basis, and places special emphasis in these reports on 14 key priorities, the Directorate reminds and adds that the new report on BiH, which will also be the first after BiH received the status candidate for EU membership, announced for the fall.

Noting that it is necessary to use the upcoming time to take even more steps towards the realization of 14 key priorities, the DEI states that the most important among them would be the adoption of amendments to the law on the HJSC, the law on preventing conflicts of interest at the level of BiH and the law on the courts of BiH.
