An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the island of Mindanao in the Philippines on Saturday, the German Center for Geoscience Research (GFZ) announced.
The epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the Philippine Seismological Agency, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9 at a depth of 27 kilometers.
The agency states that it does not expect material damage, but that additional earthquakes could follow.
Rescue workers searching for dozens missing in an earlier landslide in the town of Mako in the southern Philippine province of Davao de Oro had to suspend their operations due to the earthquake, authorities said.
The number of people killed in the landslide, which started on February 6 in front of the gold mine, has reached 28, while 77 people are missing and 32 are injured, including a three-year-old girl who was rescued yesterday after 60 hours from under the ruins.
Heavy rains have hit Davao de Oro province in recent weeks, causing floods and landslides.
