Starting from this school year, Canton Sarajevo will become among the five cantons that offer Turkish language as a foreign language for students. Turkish language will be offered this year in nine schools, and 150 students have decided to take this foreign language.
‘’This is an elective course, and so far children and parents can choose Turkish under the same conditions as the other foreign languages that continue to be offered in Canton Sarajevo, such as German, French and Arabic. I hope that in the near future we will be able to offer Spanish, Italian, Chinese and Russian. This is a pilot project, and from next year all students in all schools will be able to complete a survey and specify whether they are for or against the introduction of this language’’, said the Minister of Education, Science and Youth Damir Marjanović. In addition to the center Yunus Emre and the Ministry, the Ambassador of Turkey to B&H Ahmet Yildiz signed the protocol.
‘’This is a huge honor for all Turkish diplomats in B&H. We hope that we will successfully collaborate and perform our duties regarding the learning of Turkish here’’, said Yildiz.
