Students kick off a digital Competition to promote BiH and EU’s Bond and Connection

Another year in a row, students from all eight public universities in BiH are taking part in Generation Change, a project of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which aim is to provide youth with a platform to raise their voice and show their creativity. This year, the process resulted in four videos showcasing connections between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina – highlighting traditions, culture, customs, tourism potential, natural resources, and diversity of its people through the eyes of a new generation in BiH.

Back in May, students from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina met at the Youth Leadership Conference where they got a chance to learn about the EU integration, campaigning, production, and messaging, with a goal of creating youth-driven digital campaigns that will be featured on EU in BiH social media platforms. The overall theme under which students were tasked to create their ideas was “Connected through Good”, a flagship campaign of the EU, showcasing the strong bond and connection between the EU and BiH.

Since then, divided in four teams, each featuring students from two BiH universities found themselves in the roles of scriptwriters, producers, actors, as well as part of the production crew behind the scenes. The goal – to produce videos that will tell the perspective of the new generation of youth about the unique connections between the EU and BiH.

All videos will be featured on EU in BiH and Generation Change social media channels. The student team whose video wins the most votes will be awarded a study trip to the EU headquarters in Brussels.

The videos are available at the following links:

Connected through Adventure

Connected through Steps

Connected through People

Connected through Nature

The criteria for selection of winners will be published on EU in BiH and GenChange social media channels.

This year’s edition of the Generation Change programme initially engaged over 550 students from all public universities through a series of student discussions in 4 different cities in BiH: Tuzla, Sarajevo, Mostar, and Banja Luka. These events gave young people the opportunity to talk about different important topics relevant to the countries’ future in the EU, together with the EU Ambassador Johann Sattler, EU member state ambassadors, and various youth experts. In the second phase of the project, selected students developed ideas, and with the help of a professional production company created videos that will feature a fully youth-owned digital Generation Change campaign.
