Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson has appealed to citizens to allow police to work without interference to investigate what happened at a school in the city of Orebro, where a shooting left several people injured and 10 dead, stressing that today is a very painful day for Sweden.

“The operation is still ongoing and it is very important that the public follows the information from the police,” Kristerson stressed.

He added that the government is cooperating with the police and monitoring the situation.

“My thoughts are with the victims and their families. My thoughts are also with those for whom a normal day at school has been replaced by horror. Being locked in a classroom fearing for their lives is a nightmare that no one should have to experience,” Kristerson wrote on “X”.

Ten people were killed in a school shooting in Sweden today, police said.

Police announced tonight that the attacker was among the dead and that he probably acted alone. Police say they do not believe that the attack was motivated by terrorism.

“We do not expect any further attacks,” police said.
