A press conference was held in the European Union (EU) yesterday, at which journalists asked questions about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), asking for a comment from the Office of the Head of European Diplomacy Josep Borrell regarding the statements of BiH Presidency member, Milorad Dodik.
Asked if Borrell had information that “there are at least seven EU members that will support peaceful dissolution in BiH”, EU spokesman Peter Stano conveyed a clear message about the position of the EU.
“Anyone who questions the integrity and unity of BiH is not acceptable to the EU. This is a clear position and view of all 27 members of the EU – we are committed to the sovereignty and integrity of BiH,” Strano noted.
He reiterated the EU’s support for the integrity, sovereignty, and unity of BiH.
“Whoever does anything to violate the above is not acceptable to the EU. Steps, efforts, actions, and statements that call into question the integrity and unity of BiH are not acceptable. We call for an end to the use of inflammatory rhetoric and rhetoric of division,” Strano added.
He pointed out that this includes questioning state institutions.
“It is not acceptable. BiH has a clear European perspective and we are working with BiH and its people as one country whose sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity we are committed to. This is the message we send to all our partners,” Stano concluded.
To recall, on Wednesday night Milorad Dodik stated that he talked with heads of some of the EU members and that they support the independence of Republika Srpska (RS). Logically, the SNSD leader did not want to list the names of those leaders or the countries they come from. The same was recently stated by the head of the RS Representation in Washington, Obrad Kesic.
