BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georg Diwald, to whom he wished a successful mandate in BiH.

Minister Konaković highlighted the excellent political relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria, which are accompanied by excellent economic relations.

He emphasized that Austria is one of the largest and most important trade partners, with BiH achieving a significant trade surplus, but also that Austria is currently the largest foreign investor in our country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.

Ambassador Diwald conveyed the personal greetings of Minister Alexander Schallenberg to Minister Konaković.

He stressed his determination to contribute to the further development and improvement of the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the sectors of economy and security, but also to fully support the activities for the realization of the necessary conditions for BiH’s membership in the EU.

Minister Konaković thanked Minister Schallenberg for his greetings and pointed out that Austria continuously and strongly supports BiH in the process of activities for the accession of BiH to the European Union. He thanked for direct bilateral assistance through the activities of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), participation in the EUFOR-ALTHEA mission, and the financial contribution to the construction of the “Lipa” immigration center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
