The Government of CS introduces Sanctions for Violence on the Internet

Yesterday, the Government of Canton Sarajevo (CS) approved the Draft Law on offenses against public order and peace in the area of CS.

According to the explanation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the CS, Admir Katica, the main novelty brought by this legal solution is the fight against violence on the Internet, that is, in the online world.

“For the first time in the CS, we have prescribed as a misdemeanor, that is, defined as a public place, the activities on the Internet. So, when someone threatens, or behaves violently on the Internet, in the future he will be able to be sanctioned, if he did it in the area of the CS or if the consequences occurred in the area of our canton. We are particularly proud of this new provision of the law”, explained Minister Katica.

Also, he added, the Draft envisages a more effective suppression of organized crime related to begging.

“With the new provisions, in addition to punishing people who beg in CS, who are actually victims of human trafficking, people who think they are doing good by giving alms to those who beg, in fact unwittingly support organized crime, will also be able to be sanctioned,” Katica explained.
