The Government of FB&H adopted the Decision on the model of the realization of project of construction of highway section Konjic – Mostar North on the Corridor VC, according to which was determined the route in accordance with the preliminary design, which passes through the valley of Bijela and the Prenj Mountain with a length of 35.16 kilometers from Konjic (loop Ovcara) and Mostar North (loop Vrapcici).
Funds for this project should be provided according to the model “finance – design – construct”, where the private partner will offer financial institutions to provide loan for these works in the amount defined by the contract.
The best bidder for the construction and financing will be chosen.
The work will be contracted according to FIDIC conditions of contract of facilities, designing and construction for electrical and mechanical installations, construction and engineering works according to projects of contractors.
In the initiative of Highways of FB&H for this decision was stated that the section in existing spatial planning documents is placed in a way that it largely bypasses Prenj Mountain and monitors existing freeway. The total length is 53.2 kilometers, including 6 kilometers of bridges and viaducts, and almost 21 kilometers of tunnels, and it is the most expensive part of the entire Corridor, which significantly reduces its feasibility as a whole.
Therefore, the Highways of FB&H acceded optimization of the route, based on the conclusion of the Government of FB&H, and adopted preliminary design of the highway route that passes through the valley of Bijela and through Prenj Mountain.
According to the new version, the section between Konjic and Mostar North would be 35.16 kilometers long with 1.4 kilometers of bridges and viaducts and 16 kilometers of tunnels. By comparing the total cost of construction of these sections, a total of 309 million EUR of savings were achieved by optimization of the route.
