The Number of Tourists visiting BiH increased by 20 Percent

In the period January – July 2023, 938.744 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which is 20.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.

There were 2.002.753 overnight stays, which is 16.5 percent more compared to the same period in 2022, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists decreased by 5 percent, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 30.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

In the total number of overnight stays, domestic tourists accounted for 31.6 percent, while foreign tourists accounted for 68.4 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the most overnight stays were from tourists from Croatia (16.1 percent), Serbia (14.2 percent), Turkey (7.7 percent), Slovenia (7 percent), Germany (4.5 percent), Saudi Arabia (3.6 percent), United Arab Emirates (3.4 percent), the United States (U.S.) (3.3 percent), Montenegro (2.9 percent), and Austria (2.8 percent), which is a total of 65.4 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 34.6 percent of overnight stays.

Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in our country, Kuwait is in first place with 3.9 nights, Qatar with 3.2 nights, Albania and Ireland with 3.1 nights each, and Egypt and the United Arab Emirates with 3.0 nights each.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was realized within the Hotels and similar accommodation sector with a participation of 94.4 percent.
