The Mayor of the City of Zivinice Began Muhic and his colleagues held a meeting with the representatives of Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (EPBiH).

The meeting discussed the activities that are being carried out in order to realize the project of building solar power plants in the area of the City of Zivinice with a total capacity of 60 MW, on degraded coal mine land.

According to Mayor Began Muhic, the mentioned solar power plant construction project is of capital importance for the City of Zivinice, which heralds a new era of energy transition, and production of green energy from renewable sources.

The implementation of the project started in May of this year, and the total value of the project is about 90 million BAM. The investor is EPBiH through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will be the financier of the solar power plant construction project.

According to the representatives of EPBiH, they are actively working on the realization of the mentioned project, and it is expected that the solar power plants will be in operation by the end of 2024.

The City of Zivinice will benefit directly from the realization of this project because the photovoltaic power plants will be connected to the distribution network and all the energy obtained will be consumed in Zivinice, that is, it will be directed to the needs of the economy and citizens of the City of Zivinice. In addition, the need for additional labor will increase, that is, the possibility of retraining will be opened, Biznis Info reports.
