The Association of software companies “Bit Alijansa (Bit Alliance)” estimated that there is an urgent need for around 6,000 software engineers, developers and other experts from the field of export-oriented software industry in BiH. They estimated that their engagement would bring more than 540 million BAM to BiH on an annual basis.

“The Alliance believes that BiH should direct its social energy on the education of software engineers. If they fill all potential positions in the fast-growing software industry of BiH, then it would become a real engine for the development of our society and leading export industry,” stated Armin Talic, General Manager of the Bit Alliance.

“Moreover, the state should also offer some legal solutions and incentives, because the software industry can reduce the trend of departure of BH youth and increase the purchase power of the population. However, in order for all of this to happen, they need to react right away,” stated Talic.

The software industry already records a significant share in the total gross domestic product of BiH. It produces “ecologically clean products”, records growth in exports, salaries are 50 % above the average in BiH, and more than half of employees are under 35 years of age.

Bit Alliance gathers a total of 33 software companies with more than 2,000 employees. According to some estimates, there are between 4,000 and 4,500 developers currently working in BiH. Up to 250 software engineers finish their education on faculties in BiH on an annual basis.

The Conference is aimed at presenting all implemented activities directed towards the development of the software industry of BiH under the slogan “Successes, Challenges and Opportunities”. Moreover, another aim is the establishment of continuous support for the software industry, with a special focus on segments of education and institutional support.

The conference will be held on May 10, 2018, in the premises of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
