The Israeli army targeted Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil, one of the most important figures of this armed movement, in Beirut, two Lebanese security sources said.

The Israeli army announced that it carried out a “targeted strike” in Beirut with fighter jets. Key Hezbollah facilities were hit, Lebanese sources said. For now, Aqil’s fate is unknown.

Eyewitnesses heard the noise of planes over the city at the time of the attack, and a cloud of smoke could be seen rising from the area.

A video of the affected area broadcast by Lebanon’s Al Jadid shows burnt cars and a street strewn with rubble.

Hezbollah television “Al Manar” reported that one person was killed in the southern suburbs, while 14 were wounded, and that this is preliminary information.
