Three Ukrainian Ministers suddenly have resigned

Three Ukrainian ministers have resigned, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced on Facebook.

“The letters of resignation of the following officials were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: Oleksandr Kamishin, Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine; Denis Malyuska, Minister of Justice of Ukraine; Ruslan Strilec, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Vitaly Koval, the head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, also sent a letter of resignation,” Stefanchuk wrote in the post, reports Radio Free Europe.

He announced that he would discuss these resignations at the plenary session. The reasons for the resignations were not given. Only Kamišin announced that he will remain in the defense sector, but in a different position.

Kamishin, 40, who was appointed in March 2023, has led Ukraine’s efforts to boost defense production of weapons, from attack drones to long-range missiles, as the army battles Russia’s much better-armed and outnumbered army.

The departure of three ministers adds to the uncertainty surrounding the government, as at least five more ministerial portfolios are vacant following dismissals earlier this year.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team could now fill all positions in an attempt to bring order to the government before he travels to the United States this month to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

The Ukrainian leader said last week he hoped to meet with US President Joe Biden and his two possible successors to present a “victory plan” that would force Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
