The Kremlin said on Monday that the claim by the United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump that Vladimir Putin is “completely CRAZY” and could be a result of emotional overload, but thanked the U.S. leader for helping to initiate peace negotiations for Ukraine.

Trump said that Putin is “completely CRAZY” for launching the biggest air attack of the war on Ukraine, adding that he is considering new sanctions on Moscow, although he also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“We are truly grateful to the Americans, as well as to President Trump personally, for their help in organizing and initiating this negotiation process,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov when asked about Trump’s statements regarding Putin.

“Of course, at the same time, this is a very crucial moment, which is connected, of course, with emotional overload for everyone, absolutely, and with emotional reactions.”

Namely, the Ukrainian air forces announced that Russia overnight launched 355 drones and nine cruise missiles on Ukraine, which, according to the air force spokesman, is the biggest Russian drone attack of the war so far.

Trump also criticized Zelenskyy, posting that the Ukrainian leader “is not doing a service to his country by speaking in the way he does. Everything he says causes problems, I don’t like it and he better stop.”
