Deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina will consider changes to the Law on Foreigners, as well as the Draft Law on the organization of the wine market in BiH, at an emergency session scheduled for tomorrow, August 28.
These laws confirm appropriate compliance with European Union regulations in the field of migration and the wine market, it was stated by the Council of Ministers, which proposed that both legal solutions be considered under an urgent legislative process.
When it comes to the Law on Foreigners, it takes over four EU regulations adopted from 2016 to 2021 in the process of continuous harmonization of BiH. regulations with EU legal regulations.
Amendments to the law aim to facilitate the stay of digital nomads in BiH, and the intention of the Council of Ministers of BiH is to further extend their stay in BiH, which is why the possibility of amending action in this direction has been announced.
The law is harmonized with EU regulations related to the areas of issuing visas, permanent and temporary residence, education, research, participation in exchange programs, professional practice, volunteering, employment of highly qualified workers and work on the basis of a blue card, as well as on the basis humanitarian reasons.
Given the importance of the wine sector in agriculture and rural development, the Draft Law on the Organization of the Wine Market in Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to ensure greater competitiveness and better access for producers from Bosnia and Herzegovina to European and world markets, with better conditions for wine production. It also specifies the provisions on the production of grapes and wine.
A significant part of the law refers to the systematic regulation of the area related to designations of origin and to the labeling, presentation and advertising of wine products, as well as to the placing of these products on the market, their supervision and control, including provisions on organic wines, flavored wine products and fruit wines.
The solutions proposed in this law will have a multiple positive impact on grape and wine producers and their full registration for carrying out activities, as well as on consumers who will have a comprehensive insight into the quality of domestic wines on the market, the Council of Ministers stated.
MPs from the opposition parties from Republika Srpska in the PSBiH House of Representatives asked the RS National Assembly to declare the Law on Wine, claiming that the law means the transfer of jurisdiction from the entity to the state, which, in their opinion, is not in accordance with the Constitution of BiH.
On the agenda of tomorrow’s session is the Proposal for a resolution on preventing all forms of violence against women and harassment of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was proposed by the deputies of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH.
With the resolution, the House of Representatives condemns every form of violence against women and harassment of women and appeals to the competent judicial authorities to take urgent measures in connection with the prosecution of crimes related to violence against women.
With this document, the MPs, if adopted at tomorrow’s session, would ask the Council of Ministers and other competent authorities to start drafting documents related to defining the framework of policies and measures for the protection and assistance of all victims of violence against women.
The resolution proposes to approach changes in the criminal legislation in such a way that femicide is defined as a separate criminal offense, bearing in mind that it is the most extreme manifestation of violence directed towards women based on their gender identity.
