Video Surveillance at Intersections in Brčko

video-nadzorFrom Thursday, 1 May, the police of Brčko Discrict will put into operation a new system of video surveillance on the intersections in Brčko, announced today the spokesperson for the police Halid Emkić.

He said that the modern system of monitoring the movement of vehicles and pedestrians at the intersections was placed with the goal to raise the level of traffic and general safety.

‘’The modern video surveillance is currently set up on four key intersections in the city, with the possibility of their periodic transfer to other areas. The cameras at the intersections are connected with the software Geko, and in a technical sense, can film under all weather conditions’’, said Emkić.

The extremely high-resolution cameras allow the identification of vehicles and their license plates, and send a signal directly to the software system, which automatically sets apart situations of misdemeanor, such as passing through a red light, crossing a stop line under a red light, and endangering pedestrians at crossings.

The police appeal to drivers and pedestrians to adhere to the traffic rules, because from 1 May this system will begin to document all violations.
