The First Deputy High Representative to B&H Tamir Waser called on leaders and representatives of civil society to focus on finding concrete solutions for Mostar and to try to direct force towards the real needs of the citizens.
In a statement to journalists after a meeting with representatives of political parties and civil society in Mostar, Waser said that he came to this city in order to once again stress the need for political dialogue and the proper functioning of institutions.
‘’The protests, which took place in Mostar recently, are the reflection of the frustration of citizens and we fully understand those frustrations, since the political stalemate in this country has gone on too long. But the violence that accompanied the protests is something that we condemn and we hope that we will not see such incidents in the future’’, said Waser, pointing out that it is very important that the protests do not turn into an ethnic issues, to not appear as an inter-ethnic conflict.
During the visit to Mostar, Waser spoke with the Mayor of Mostar Ljubo Bešlić and the President of the City Board of SDA of Mostar Zijad Hadžiomerović. He visited to UN College in Mostar, and based on unconfirmed sources, he is expected to speak today with the President of HDZ B&H Dragan Čović.
