A prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Stanko Cuk, born in 1987 in Mostar, a citizen of BiH.

It is alleged against the accused that on 19 October 2020, for the purpose of acquiring illegal property gain, he intended to place on the market a large quantity of cut tobacco in the amount of 100 kilograms without paid excises and other levies provided for by the Law on Excise Duties in BiH, and that with the aim of their further sale he drove them in the trunk of the car he operated, packed in smaller PVC bags suitable for sale on the illegal tobacco market.

The accused was discovered in committing the criminal offence during the control of police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior on the main road Mostar-Sarajevo, in Raštalica, Hadžići municipality, after which the said tobacco was found and seized.

The accused is charged with intending to sell products that are not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of BiH, thus committing the criminal offence of illicit trade in excise products under Article 210a (1) in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.

Also, acting on the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, police officers of the RS Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior, carried out activities in the early morning hours today to find and deprive of freedom seven people suspected of smuggling the narcotic drug “cocaine” from the territory of the EU to the territory of BiH and then further distributing it in the territory of BiH.

During the search, a certain amount of drugs was found, as well as evidence of the commission of a criminal offence.

The suspects will be handed over to the case prosecutor within the legal deadline, who will interview the suspects and then make a decision on further activities regarding the suspects.

This operation is the result of good and coordinated cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the RS Ministry of Interior and the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior, with the aim of prosecuting persons suspected of serious crimes that violate the security situation and the security of BiH citizens.
