After today’s session, the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton decided that epidemiological measures against the coronavirus will not be introduced.

As announced by the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the total number of reported positive for the virus is 127, while the daily number in the past seven days was 106. In the last 24 hours, 107 people recovered, 53 people were hospitalized, of which 43 were mentioned, acute infection. At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), 34 patients have an acute infection, while 10 are under observation. A total of nine patients are being treated at the General Hospital “Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas”.

The proportion of unvaccinated patients among those hospitalized is 73.58 percent.

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton is of the opinion that the current epidemiological situation does not require the introduction of more restrictive measures. Citizens are urged to be cautious, and it is recommended to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, ventilate closed rooms, practice hygiene – wash your hands, cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, and wear masks in closed rooms where there are a large number of people.

As emphasized, the cantonal Ministry of Health no longer issues decisions on isolation, the cantonal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Inspectorate are not required to control isolation, and the care of persons positive for the virus and the monitoring of their symptoms continues to be managed by the competent family doctor who determines sick leave.

It is suggested that classes continue normally in educational institutions. In accordance with the current epidemiological situation in Sarajevo Canton, the Crisis Staff has estimated that classes in all institutions can take place in benches. The epidemiological situation will continue to be monitored in the context of classes, and the Crisis Staff, in case of deterioration, will adopt more restrictive measures.

It was noted that it is mandatory to wear protective masks over the mouth and nose indoors and with respect for a distance of at least two meters in all healthcare institutions, and in institutions that care for the elderly, institutions that care for people with disabilities development and persons with mental disorders, penal and correctional institutions and other social protection institutions.

For the admission of those patients for hospitalization who do not have clinical signs of infection with the coronavirus, the Crisis Staff considers that an antigen test is sufficient, and the assessment of whether a PCR test is needed is made by the institution’s doctor at the time of admission. Certain clinical signs of infection have, as has been pointed out, their own way, as it has been the case until now, in accordance with crisis preparedness plans and responses to the emergence of the coronavirus.

The Sarajevo Canton Health Insurance Institute was ordered to procure the drug Remdesivir and sufficient quantities of antigen tests for the needs of health centers.

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton also recommends vaccination with the fourth dose for all persons over 60 years of age, immunocompromised, oncology patients and persons with associated comorbidities. Vaccination against coronavirus takes place at all family medicine points of all organizational units of Sarajevo Canton health centers, announced the Government of Sarajevo Canton.
