Low-cost airline Wizz Air continues to reduce operations this winter season, which begins on October 29. After the airline recently added Hahn to its list of discontinued destinations, it will also suspend flights between Abu Dhabi and Sarajevo.
The last flight on that route will operate on October 28, writes Ex-Yu Aviation. Ticket sales will be discontinued after that. However, the airline is expected to resume services between the two capitals on March 31, 2024, although changes are still possible at this early stage.
Wizz Air will also cease operations from Banja Luka to Stockholm, with the last flight scheduled for August 28. Flights from the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hamburg end on October 28.
Wizz Air will maintain flights from Banja Luka to Basel and Dortmund this winter. For its part, the operator Aerodromi RS announced that airlines reserve the right to modify their network of destinations and that Banja Luka Airport has a contract with Wizz Air until the summer season of 2024, which begins in March, which means that the two parties have yet to negotiate on carrier plans after this date.
The only new addition of Wizz Air in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming months is the continuation of its fortnightly London Luton – Sarajevo service after 25 September.
As a result, the budget airline will operate just seventeen weekly outbound flights this winter, down from 54 flights in the same period last year.
Wizz Air, which has maintained the position of the largest Bosnian carrier for several years, this winter will be tied with Turkish Airlines in the number of weekly flights and will have only three weekly departures more than its low-cost rival Ryanair.
