The extension and modernization of Terminal B of Sarajevo International Airport is coming to an end, and the realization of that project will significantly increase the spatial and technological capacities of the airport.
”The first phase of the project “Extension and Modernization of Terminal B” was realized by obtaining the use permit on March 10th of this year. At the same time, we started work as part of the second phase of the project “Extension and Modernization of Terminal B”, which includes the modernization of the old part of the Terminal, interior works, expansion of the Duty Free Shop, new spaces for supporting services, etc.,” it was mentioned to agency Fena from Sarajevo International Airport.
The terminal now has 19,000 m2, an expanded and modernized baggage handling system, 27 passenger registration counters and is a representative facility that will be able to meet the growing demands in the field of airport activity in the coming period.
”In the extended part of Terminal B, we will offer new facilities that will complement the services of Sarajevo International Airport, which are designed to follow the latest trends in the airport industry and commercial facilities and offers in passenger terminals,” it was pointed by Sarajevo International Airport.
”With the increase in spatial capacity, we have been preparing for a certain period of time in order to be able to provide quality services in terms of infrastructure, personnel, and with adequate equipment, and meet the requirements prescribed by the standards of large and respectable airlines, which opens up the possibility for 24-hour working hours,” Sarajevo International Airport states.
A necessary precondition for the airport to be open 24 hours a day, as they added, is the readiness and competence of all entities involved in the safety and legally prescribed conduct of air traffic, as well as a sufficient number of personnel. So far, two airlines have submitted a request for late-night and early-morning flights.
Sarajevo International Airport confirmed that a contract was signed for basing the aircraft with one airline, and noted that they could not disclose the details to the public yet.
”After we get all the necessary permits, and after the contract is ratified in accordance with the laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), the public will be informed about which airline it is, as well as about all other details,” it was stated by Sarajevo International Airport.
