In the Western Balkan countries, there is an increase in the number of jobs, as growth continues throughout the region.

It is expected that the regional growth will reach 2.6 percent in 2017, as a result of the creation of 230.000 new jobs by June 2017 – an increase of 3.8 percent compared to last year.

Despite high unemployment in the six countries of the region, employment rates have returned to the same level as before 2008, in Albania, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

More than half of new jobs in the region are open in the private sector.

According to the latest Western Balkans Regular Economic Report by World Bank, released today in Pristina, Kosovo, it is expected that all six Western Balkan countries will grow in 2017, and there will be a rapid regional growth of 3.3 percent in 2018 and 3.6 percent in 2019.

Investments caused strong growth in Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, while spending led to the stable growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The previous political crisis made the growth in FYR of Macedonia worse, as well as the extremely cold winter in Serbia.
